To be a writer, author, speaker, trainer, and coach was foreign and far-fetched to me considering my background.
I was a young small boy from a poor family in the little town of Kibungan. I would walk to school with my worn-out slippers, and while my classmates would declare their favorite subject is recess, I couldn’t relate. As they go grab their snacks, I would just find ways to entertain myself by running around and play with those who also had nothing to buy some knick-knacks.
But poverty did not hinder me from dreaming big. I had dreamt of becoming a priest, then a police, later a politician and a prosecutor. Perhaps, the desire to do better led me to become a consistent honor student from elementary to college.
I then became a Certified Public Accountant at the age of 21 and started working as an auditor.
While working with a respected firm in Makati City, I joined Toastmasters International to become better in my presentation skills. As auditors, we would often present audit reports to top managers and executives of our clients. I needed to up my game. But also, while I was so shy and introverted, I enjoyed speaking with substance and style whenever asked to speak on stage.
I met several friends in Toastmasters and it also opened up to more learning opportunities. I met Francis Kong and when I saw him speak live on stage, he opened my eyes to a much higher-level of public speaking. And Toastmasters nurtured that.
Later on, I met Bo Sanchez who modeled to me something that I wanted to do. I admire his lifestyle, his use of language to communicate empowering messages, and his leadership in various businesses and ministries. The Feast, The Truly Rich Club, and his conferences and courses nourished me in countless ways.
Online, I encountered the likes of John Maxwell, Stephen Covey, Brendon Burchard, and Tony Robbins.
With all these wonderful models together, I then dreamt of becoming a MESSENGER. That means, a writer/author, trainer, speaker, and coach. I wanted to help bring people to the next level. That’s the mission!
At the age of 22, I set this goal to become a MESSENGER by the age of 28, doing it without having to depend on my salary as an accountant, but rather on professional fees as a speaker, trainer, and coach, and sales from my books.
Dreams do come true.
I am now a full time writer, trainer and speaker. I started doing this in 2015 and now is my seventh year.
I have authored and published five books so far.
I have spoken in national conferences where celebrity speakers like Anthony Pangilinan and Miriam Quiambao-Roberto have served also.
I have trained young people in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
I have conducted seminars, recollections and workshops for several government agencies, LGUs, schools, communities and companies.
In 2020, I started coaching aspiring authors write and publish their books. I’m happy to share that we have produced eight new authors in less than 12 months.
I also do speech coaching with my desire to help people with empowering expertise and experience share their messages more effectively. I have seen a lot of supposedly valuable stories structured and delivered in a way that drown out its power and purpose. I want to help turn that around into a message with impact.
Other Models and Mentors
With my desire to level up my speaking skills, I became a student of World Champion Speakers like Darren Tay, Darren LaCroix, and Mark Brown through their online courses and coaching.
Brendon Burchard, through his books and online courses, helped me pinpoint with clarity my path of purpose, the blueprint of my profession, and my aim for productivity and high performance.
Recently, I’ve been blessed to gain access to another high-level learning journey with Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins as I embark to do more needle-movers in what I do with effective marketing, influence, and clarity.
And you can’t discount how blessed I am with a supportive wife, family, and amazing circle of friends.
I aim to create, connect, and contribute through my words and works and I aspire to speak a message, spark inspiration, and spur action.
I believe that everybody’s purpose (should be) is to love. That’s the purpose. But the question is, “What is your path of purpose?”
That’s what I mentioned above, my path is through my words, as a messenger (author, trainer, speaker) and a messenger-helper (book coach, speech coach). And with God’s grace, through my works (my lifestyle and leadership).
The statement I shared above about creating, connecting, and contributing was inspired by Brendon Burchard. He had a near-death experience wherein he realized that at the end of our lives, we all ask, “Did I live? Did I love? And did I matter?”His story struck me so much that those words resonated with me. Live, love, matter.
But I had to make it my own. So I asked myself, “When do I feel most alive? How can I love more? How do I make a difference?” Then came the answers, “I feel alive when I create or craft something good and valuable often through my words. I can love more when I connect more. And make a difference when I do something of contribution to the community.”
Let’s journey together, to make our society better.
