Get Close To Your Dream

A wealthy man stood up and said to the crowd, “What do you want?”

It was a conference about personal finance. And the man was asking what the participants want financially. In this setting, he was asking everyone how much money they want.

He walked down the platform and asked the lady seemingly in her 40s seated on the left row. He asked, “What do you want?”

“Hmmm. I want more money,” the lady responded.

Quickly, the wealthy man pulled out his check book and signed, gave it to the lady. “Twenty pesos check!”

“What?! Twenty pesos in a check? Isn’t the check book even more expensive than the face value of this check – P20?!”

The old lady was speechless in such moment of confusion and sadness.

Then the wealthy man walked to the other side of the row and asked a young lady, seemingly in her 20s.

“What do you want?”

The young lady answered, “I want to raise one million pesos for my new business to start operating this year. I did my study. And with our market, technical, and financial projection, this is feasible.”

Immediately, the wealthy man pulled out his check book, wrote an amount, signed, then gave it to the lady. She was surprised!

The young lady was speechless in such moment of blessing and happiness.

She just received a million peso check under her name ready for encashment the next banking day!

What if you were in this story? Will you be the old lady in the left row or the young lady in the right row? How clear are you in what you want? How specific are you in your dream statements?

I, for one, admit that I struggle in this area. I am fuzzy at times. That’s why I pray for clarity and discernment to be clear with what I really want – not just in terms of finances, but also in my career, and relationships.

It pays to be clear and specific. See what happened in the story. The clearer it states, the better it gets. The more specific it is, the more it gets great!

The story above, I just made it up. But it can happen, not just in a day-dream, but also in real life. The wealthy man can represent God, or the universe, or the market, or your business, or your associates, or your partners, or your resources. They will readily work their way out to help you achieve what you want as long as you are clear with what you really, really, really want.

This is the challenge for you and for me today: Are you clear with what you really want?

It pays to answer this question and be intentional with it. After all, the Bible says. “If you are unable to make up your mind and are undecided in all you do, you must not think that you will receive anything from the Lord.”

Try this out:
1. Ask yourself what you want. Answer it with deadline.
2. Imagine the end state that you wish. Visualize it with the details.
3. Write it down on paper. Declare it.

Know what you want so you can get what you want.

Live your life, young mind!

  1. Hi Chris,
    Great post.

Being specific and clear in what we want to achieve in life will get us to the goals we so desire to attain.

There is a big element of truth to the statement – ‘ If we don’t know where we are going, we will arrive anywhere which could be nowhere .’

A dream is achieved when it is lucid and defined.
A destination is reached when we know the place we want to go.

I really like the P20 check story. :).
Thank you for writing this inspiring article.

Keep writing. I like your style. It’s engaging.

    1. Thanks a lot, Kuya Ron.

Indeed, being specific and clear is a need to a accomplish something big.
